ASME Journal Accepting Papers for Two Special Issues

ASME Journal Accepting Papers for Two Special Issues ASME Journal Accepting Papers for Two Special Issues ASME Journal Accepting Papers for Two Special IssuesThe editorial board for ASMEs Journal of Mechanical konzept is currently accepting papers for two special issues of the journal that will be published late next year. The first of the special issues will focus on entwurf theory and methodology, while the second will cover issues related to simulation-based design. Each year, ASME convenes its Design Theory and Methodology (DTM) Conference in an effort to promote research, dissemination of knowledge, and debate related to such topics as scientific theories of design, creativity and innovation in design, formal design methods, product modeling, design pedagogy, and design management. The Special Issue on Design Theory and Methodology will also explore ansicht topics. However, participation in the conference is not a requirement for authors submitting a paper. The Journal of Mechanic al Design editorial board encourages authors from all areas of DTM to submit a paper for the special issue. The board is particularly interested in papers discussing interdisciplinary perspectives that extend the understanding of design theory and methodologies. The special issue will address a number of DTM-related topics, including creativity ideation, analogy, and biologically inspired design design of complex systems and product architecture design computing human behavior in design managing design processes trends and technologies impacting the design process and user preferences.Submissions for the Special Issue on Design Theory and Methodology are due Jan. 15, 2016. The second special issue will concentrate on uncertainty quantification, propagation and design using probabilistic and non-probabilistic methods - a field that has experienced significant growth in the past decade. Design under uncert ainty has implications in decision making as well as reliability, quality, safety and risk tolerance of many products. This special issue will cover various related topics under the general umbrella of simulation-based design under uncertainty, including methods, models and case studies. Topics of interest include computational techniques for uncertainty quantification and propagation design for resilience fusion of simulation and experimental data for design under uncertainty lifecycle analysis and design under uncertainty methodologies for design under uncertainty using probabilistic and non-probabilistic methods model verification, validation, and calibration and multidisciplinary analysis and optimization under uncertainty risk-, and safety-based design and optimization and uncertainty propagation and quantification through multiple scales and disciplines.Submissions for the Special Issue on Simulation-Based Design Under Uncertainty are due Feb. 29, 2016.
